
Bowie Rally Spoils Solo's Home Debut

CURVE, Pa. - The Altoona Curve jumped out to a 5-0 lead on Friday off the strong performance from Anthony Solometo, but Bowie managed to rally for seven runs after the sixth inning to climate the Curve from first half playoff contention in a 7-6 extra innings loss at Peoples Natural Gas Field on Friday night.
The Curve's bullpen entered tonight's game for the start of the sixth inning and would concede seven runs on 12 hits in their five innings of relief of Solometo. The four pitchers would walk five batters while striking out six.
Solometo made his Altoona Curve home debut in tonight's contest. Solometo would pitch five scoreless innings for the Curve, only allowing two hits with one walk while striking out six. RHP Noe Toribio would in enter in the sixth inning, but only recorded two outs, allowing one run on three hits with a Jud Fabian solo home run in his first batter faced.
Tyler Samaniego threw 1.1 innings allowing two runs on three hits, while also striking out two. He gave up back-to-back RBI-doubles to Fabian and Coby Mayo in the seventh inning. Oliver Garcia would also allow runs in relief for the Curve, pitching one complete inning while giving up three runs on five hits. Tahnaj Thomas would receive tonight's loss after giving up the difference-making run in the top of the 10th inning, an RBI-single to John Rhodes that clipped off the mitt of a diving Liover Peguero at short.
Matt Fraizer had a strong outing, going 2-4 at plate while also stealing three bases in the first, third and fifth innings. Jacob Gonzalez would also show up at the plate, bringing three rbi's on two hits, including his fifth home run of the season in the seventh. Fraizer knocked an RBI-single off Bowie starter Chayce McDermott in the first inning to give Altoona the early lead before Gonzalez added a two-run single to chase the starter from the contest after recording just two outs.
Lolo Sanchez hit an RBI-single in the second inning before Tsung-Che Cheng had a sacrifice fly in the fourth. Cheng went 0-for-3 with a sacrifice and two walks in his Double-A debut. Sanchez also had two sacrifice bunts in the loss for the Curve, who fell to 33-33 on the season in the loss.
Altoona continues its seven-game Homestand with The Bowie BaySox, Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, with a Saturday 6:00 p.m. start. Altoona will send RHP Brad Case to the mound to face Bowie's RHP Carlos Tavera.
