Senators Swept by Richmond

The Richmond Flying Squirrels rallied from a 7-2 deficit to beat the Harrisburg Senators 8-7 in eight innings in game one of their doubleheader Friday night at the Diamond in Richmond. In game two, Richmond plated three runs following two errors to beat the Senators 3-2. In the first game, the Sens had leads of 2-0, 6-1, 7-2, and 8-7 before Richmond scored twice in the eighth.

The Big Plays

Vaun Brown hit a game tying three-run home run for Richmond following two walks and an Rbi single in the bottom of the sixth inning in game one. In game two, with two outs after a dropped pop up, Logan Wyatt hit his first double-A home run, a two-run shot, for Richmond to give them a 3-1 lead.

On Capitol Hill

Dustin Saenz started game one and went five innings allowing three runs on five hits. He walked four and struck out four. Lucas Knowles went one inning and allowed four runs on two hits and two walks. Joel Peguero pitched a perfect seventh inning. Reid Schaller pitched the eighth and faced three batters, walking one, followed by a sacrifice bunt and then the game winning single. In game two, Alemao Hernandez went five innings and allowed three unearned runs on five hits. Tim Cate followed and pitched the sixth inning, allowing a hit but nothing else. It was his first outing since May 20.

With the Gavel

JT Arruda drove in four runs with two hits including a three-run double in game one. Trey Lipscomb had two hits, including a double, and drove in two in game one. Donovan Casey had two hits and scored a run. In game two, the Senators mustered only two hits, one an RBI single by Robert Hassell, III.

Filibusters

Through the first three games of the series, the Senators had walked 22 Richmond batters in 28 innings... It was the first time this season the Sens were swept in a doubleheader... Richmond has taken three of the first four games of the series, all one-run wins with two coming in walk off fashion.
