
Ducks Come from Behind in Game Two to Split Doubleheader with Rumble Ponies

Bryan Lavastida's go ahead two-run single lifts the Akron RubberDucks to a 4-2 extra inning win over the Binghamton Rumble Ponies and a split of the doubleheader on Friday night at Canal Park. Binghamton took game one in come from behind fashion 4-3.
Turning Point
After tying the game in the top of the seventh, Akron kept the momentum going in the top of the eighth. With Connor Kokx placed on second, Angel Martinez and Johnathan Rodriguez each worked walks to load the bases. Lavastida lined a single into right to score two and put Akron ahead 3-1. Aaron Bracho followed by grounding into a fielder's choice to score Rodriguez and make it 4-2 RubberDucks.
Mound Presence
The RubberDucks turned to a bullpen game in the second half of the doubleheader. Zach Hart got the start and was brilliant striking out three and allowing just one run on two hits over two and two-third innings. Trey Benton followed with an inning and a third scoreless and two strikeouts. Erik Sabrowski and Davis Sharpe each worked two scoreless innings to propel Akron to the victory.
Hunter Stanley got the start in game one for the RubberDucks and looked strong for most of his outing. The right-hander allowed just one run through his first four innings while striking out five. However the Rumble Ponies would load the bases against Stanley in the fifth and chase him from the game. Bradley Hanner followed allowing two runs to come across before escaping the fifth.
Duck Tales
The RubberDucks tied game two in the top of the seventh when Joe Naranjo singled home Bracho to make it 1-1.
Akron cracked the scoreboard first in game one. Petey Halpin and Martinez each singled with one out before a Lavastida walk loaded the bases. Juan Brito lifted a sac-fly to left to score Halpin and make it 1-0 RubberDucks. Rodriguez followed with a broken bat RBI single up the middle to push home Martinez and make it 2-0 Akron. The RubberDucks added another in the fourth on a Kokx RBI single to score Brito and make it 3-1 Akron.
Notebook
The RubberDucks were the visiting team in game two since the game served as a makeup for a rainout in Binghamton on April 30...Game Time: 2:18/2:32...Attendance: 5,428.

The RubberDucks will continue their series at Canal Park against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies on Saturday, June 24 at 7:05 p.m. Akron left-hander Will Dion (0-0, 5.68 ERA) will take on Binghamton righty Alex Valverde (1-0, 2.21 ERA).
