Cleveland Guardians Cal Quantrill to Rehab Sunday at Canal Park

(AKRON, OHIO) Cleveland Guardians pitcher Cal Quantrill is scheduled to pitch in a rehab assignment with the Akron RubberDucks in Sunday's 2:05 p.m. game against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies at Canal Park.

Quantrill is appearing in his first rehab game since being placed on the 15-day injured list on May 31 with right shoulder inflammation. Prior to being placed on the injured list, the right-handed pitcher made 11 starts with the Guardians in 2023 going 2-4 with a 5.61 ERA and 34 strikeouts over 59.1 innings pitched.

Quantrill was acquired by Cleveland from the San Diego Padres on Aug. 31, 2020 along with Josh Naylor, Austin Hedges, Owen Miller, Gabriel Arias and Joey Cantillo for Mike Clevinger and Greg Allen.

In 124 games (86 starts) between San Diego and Cleveland, Quantrill is 33-20 with a 3.77 ERA and 403 strikeouts over 530.1 innings pitched.

The Port Hope, ON, Canada native was San Diego's first round pick (eighth overall) in the 2016 draft out of the Stanford.
