Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs erased a one goal second period deficit with three unanswered goals and went on to defeat the Fort Worth Brahmas 5-3 Tuesday night in Central Hockey League action at the Century-Tel Center in Bossier City, Louisiana.

Fort Worth's Derrell Upton's powerplay goal at the 14:54 mark of the second period staked the Brahmas to a 2-1 lead. Bossier, however, began their comeback just under three minutes later when center Jason Campbell scored to tie the game at 2 at the 17:35 mark of the period.

Campbell's goal sparked the Mudbugs, as they took command of the game early on in the third period. Center Forbes MacPherson netted an unassisted marker 3:11 into the final frame, and then the Mudbugs David Oliver scored what proved to be the game winning goal at the 9:47 mark of the third. Fort Worth tried to fight back in the game, cutting the Bugs lead to 4-3 when center Jeremy Vanin scored a powerplay goal with just 3:46 remaining in regulation. Despite the Brahmas valiant efforts, the Mudbugs managed to hold off Fort Worth's attempts to tie the game, and they iced the win when forward Dan Wildfong scored at the 18:09 mark of the third to set the final margin at 5-3.

Rookie netminder Tyler Nilsson took the loss for the Brahmas, allowing the five Mudbugs goals on 29 shots. Ken Carroll got the win in net for the Bugs, stopping 30 of the 33 Fort Worth shots.

The Brahmas record drops to 13-24-6 with the defeat, while the Northeast Division leading Mudbugs improved to 31-10-3 on the season.

Having lost two games in a row, the Brahmas will now try and regroup and get back on the winning track this weekend when they travel to Indianapolis for two games against the Ice, on Friday and Saturday night respectively.
