Looking to make history the Bucks got it going early. Forward Chris Grenville slipped a pass to the top of the crease that Bes tipped into the back of the net just 66 seconds into the game. It was the 27th of the year for Bes and extended his CHL best point streak to 21 straight games. Later in the period forward James Hiebert received a pass at the top of the left circle, he moved to the face off dot and then cut hard to the slot and slipped the puck around Austin goalie Jonathan Forest for his ninth of the year at 9:36 for a 2-0 Laredo lead.
In the second period the Bucks got the only goal. Bes scored his second of the night as he fired a shot from the right wall that went in five-hole on Forest at 12:56 to make it 3-0 Laredo.
The Bucks continued their strong play in the third. Bes capped off the hat trick by slamming home a feed from Grenville 4:43 into the period for his 29th goal. Less than 90 second later Bes returned the favor as he set up Grenville for a slam dunk goal at 6:00. It was the fourth straight game with a goal for Grenville and his CHL leading 31st. The Ice Bats spoiled the shut out when forward Chris Richards gunned home a wrist shot at 9:27. FINAL SCORE Laredo 5, Austin 1.
