LOVES PARK, IL- The Rockford Aviators presented by Pearson, were unable to rally back against the Schaumburg Boomers, falling 12-2 on Friday night.
Josh Slatts got the start for the Aviators. He pitched four innings, allowing ten hits and seven runs.
The Boomers benefited from a rough outing from Josh Slatts, scoring two runs in second and third innings, and followed with three runs in the fourth which gave them a 7-0 advantage.
Danny Jimenez got the start for the Boomers. He pitched 5.2 innings, allowing five hits and one run.
The Aviators had a golden opportunity to take a early advantage. In the bottom of the first inning the Aviators loaded the bases with no outs. Jimenez worked out of the jam as he forced a fly out and then struck out two in a row to end the inning unharmed.
Ryan Breen hit his second homerun of the year, a solo shot in the bottom of the fourth to put the Aviators on the board, and cut into the lead, 7-1.
The Boomers scored again in the sixth inning as Mark Nelson hit a RBI double that pushed a run across, increasing the lead to 8-1.
The Aviators tried to rally back in eighth inning. After a double by Jeff Kremer, Edgar Corcino reached base due to an error which scored Kremer and trimmed the lead to 8-2.
The Boomers continued to score as they pushed four runs across in the ninth, adding to their lead 12-2.
The Aviators will wrap up their series tomorrow night against the Schaumburg Boomers tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. Fans will want to come out to the ballpark as the first 1,000 fans through the gate will receive a FREE Aviators hat courtesy of our friends at Butitta Brothers Auto!
It will also be scout night for local scouts to enjoy a camp out at Aviators Stadium!
