April 2, 2009 - ECHL (ECHL)
Bakersfield Condors News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The ECHL announced today that Bakersfield Condors C Dave Bonk and LW Mark Derlago were both named to the All-ECHL 2nd Team today. The teams were selected by a vote from ECHL head coaches.
Bonk, 26, is the fourth highest scorer in the ECHL this season, and has led the Condors offensive surge over the second half of the season. Over the last two months, Bonk leads the league with 47 points in his last 26 games since Feb. 1, and his 81 points is the 7th best in Condors history. Overall, his 31 goals is tied for the team lead, while he is tied for 3rd in the league with 50 assists. Bonk's 28 multiple-point games leads the club, while his 31 points on the power play are tied for the team lead. His 15 goals on the man advantage ranks 3rd in the league.
His second season in Condorstown, the Brandon, Manitoba, native played for Bakersfield in 2005-06 before jumping to Europe for two seasons. In the 2006 Kelly Cup Playoffs, Bonk established a Condors record for points in a playoff season with 15 (7g-8a). He is four points from cracking the Top 10 in Condors career points, with 117 in a Bakersfield sweater.
Derlago, 23, is in his second professional season, both spent with the Condors. Also hailing from Brandon, Derlago followed up his record-breaking rookie season by becoming the first Condor in eight years to record back-to-back 30-goal campaigns, and is tied for 6th in the league with 73 points. A linemate of Bonk's, the two have racked up massive point totals over the last two months of the regular season, as 46 of his points have come since Feb. 1. Derlago's 31g-42a-73pts totals have come despite spending 21 games in the American Hockey League with the Manitoba Moose, and skating in only 47 games with Bakersfield.
Currently riding a 13-game point streak, the fourth-longest in club history, Derlago has 29 points on the power play, and is 6th in Condors history with 70 career goals. He has two hat tricks this season and recorded two last season, when he led all ECHL rookies with 39 goals, establishing a new Condors rookie record.
