Goalender Beauchemin Called Up To Houston

Boise, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads announced today that goaltender Rejean Beauchemin [Bo-sha-min] has been signed to a Player Tryout Contract with the American Hockey League's Houston Aeros.

Beauchemin, 23, has played 31 games with the Steelheads this season and has a record of 16-11-1-2 with a 2.66 goals-against average and a .895 save percentage. The Winnipeg, Man. native was a sixth-round (191st overall) draft pick by Philadelphia in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

Standing 6-foot-1 and 195-pounds, Beauchemin is playing his fourth professional season; first with Idaho. Since turning pro in 2005-06, he's logged time with the ECHL's Trenton Titans, Bakersfield Condors and Dayton Bombers, and 22 games with the AHL's Philadelphia Phantoms.

Idaho has two regular season games remaining on home ice this weekend against Phoenix and is in the hunt for a division title. The team begins its quest for a third ECHL Kelly Cup on Saturday, Apr. 11 at Qwest Arena. The seeding order and the Steelheads' opponent for the National Conference, West Division's first round of postseason play is still to be determined.
