Battle Creek Battle Jacks News Release

The Battle Creek Bombers fell short to the Kokomo Jackrabbits for the third straight time tonight to a final score of 7-4.

Battle Creek jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning but it was a four run third inning for Kokomo that set the Bombers back 4-1. Three walks and two hit batters coupled with two base hits allowed Kokomo to bat through the order and take an early lead. Jordan Rhodes came in to relieve Calvin Starnes with two away in that frame.

Rhodes would retire six straight batters to start his appearance and would eventually get out of the fifth inning only allowing one run.

Mitchell Lee would enter the game at the top of the sixth with the Bombers trailing 5-1. Lee would load the bases in the sixth with just one out but back to back strikeouts allowed him to escape the frame without allowing a run.

Battle Creek began the slow crawl back in the seventh inning where they put up one run off an RBI single from Michael Morissette making the score 5-2

The Jackrabbits added to their total in the ninth with two more runs bringing the score to 7-2. The Bombers tried to mount a comeback in the bottom of the ninth scoring two runs off a bloop single from Kelby Weyler. It would not be enough however as Roy Thurman popped up to the saving pitcher Ryan Boyer.

Bombers fell to a final tune of 7-4 but are back in action tomorrow night against the Jackrabbits at C.O. Brown Stadium for the Bombers first fireworks game of the season.
