Booyah Bats Explode Again at Home
June 7, 2019 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Green Bay Rockers News Release
Ashwaubenon, WI - Green Bay scored 9+ runs for the third time this season, hitting the first home run in Capital Credit Union Park, and picking up the seventh win of the season.
On the mound for Green Bay, Chris Jefferson threw six innings, allowed only two hits, struck out three, and didn't allow any runs on the day. Jefferson picked up his first win of the season, and felt better afterwards for multiple reasons.
"I felt like I had no pressure coming into today as the starter as opposed to as a bullpen guy. I'm more relaxed in the starting role, and once I got that first out I settled in." Jefferson said.
Another thing Jefferson talked about was a changing of the cleats, switching from flats from his first appearance.
"I could feel myself slipping in my first appearance. After I changed to these cleats, I felt a much better grip on the mound and that helped me felt more comfortable on the rubber."
At the dish, Justin Green became the FIRST player ever to hit a home run in Capital Credit Union Park. In the fifth inning, Also for Green Bay, Blaise Maris picked up two RBIs, off a double, as did Jaret Godman.
In total, the Booyah scored nine times, grabbing eight hits, and walking on six separate occasions.
Tomorrow for Green Bay, Nate Brown makes his first start on the year for the Booyah. In his one appearance this season, Brown threw in one total inning, allowing no hits.
First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. at Athletic park in Wausau.
