
Mallards Defeat Dock Spiders in Walk-Off Fashion

Madison,WI - The Madison Mallards (10-1) defeated the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders (6-5) 10-7 after a three-run walk-off home run by Justice Bigbie (Western Carolina).
The Mallards gained control early in the game with an explosive second inning to grab a quick 2-0 lead. Madison hit for a team cycle in the inning, gaining momentum heading into the third.
Fond du Lac matched the Mallards energy in the third to tie the game on a sac fly from Jack Alexander (Notre Dame). In the bottom of the inning, Ben Anderson (Georgia) responded with a solo home run to put the Mallards back on top, 3-2.
Moving on to the fourth, the Dock Spiders scored two, taking a 4-3 lead. Their performance on offense continued to rattle the Mallards after the Dock Spiders scored two more runs in the fifth on a Mallards error and home run by Zeb Adreon (Iowa) to lead 6-3. The Dock Spiders added one more run in the sixth from an RBI double by Andrew Bullock (Western Carolina).
Madison remained silent on offense until the eighth, when in the bottom of the inning, Bigbie slammed a lead off home run to bring the score to 5-7. Later in the inning, Austin Blazevic (Southeastern Missouri) hit a sac fly to score Nick Gile (Madison College) and tie the game 7-7.
The Dock Spiders loaded the bases with two outs in the ninth. Theo Denlinger (Bradley) struck out Andrew Schleusner (Montana State Billings) to end the inning and strand the loaded bases.
In the bottom of the ninth Bigbie hit a three-run home run to secure the Mallards tenth victory of the season. After being mobbed by his teammates at home plate, Bigbie was named Impact Player of the Night.
Sam Grace (Southern Illinois University) was the losing pitcher for the Dock Spiders after giving up the walk-off home run.
Turning Point
In the bottom of the eighth the Mallards made a thrilling comeback and tied the game at 7-7, sparked by Justice Bigbie's first home run of the night.
