Boesch and Ott team to rough up Kane County

GENEVA, IL - Louis Ott and Brennan Boesch were each 3-for-5 with 2 RBI to lead the Whitecaps to a 9-3 victory over Kane County. West Michigan completes its eight game road trip 4-4 by taking 3-out-of-4 from the Cougars.

Ryan Strieby put West Michigan in front with an RBI single in the first. Boesch followed with another RBI single and Louis Ott made it a 4-0 Whitecaps lead on a two-run double.

Kane County cut the lead in half in the bottom of the first West Michigan starter Jonah Nickerson walked two batters with one out then allowed a two-run double by Greg Dowling.

Boesch and Deik Scram each had RBI singles in the fifth as the Whitecaps scored two in the fifth and sixth, then another run in the ninth to provide the final margin of victory.

Scram is now on a nine game hitting streak, which is the longest of the season for any Whitecap.

Nickerson pitched five innings and allowed three runs on three hits and three walks to pick up the win and end a decision losing streak.

The West Michigan bullpen followed with four shutout innings: Two from Phil Napolitan and one each from Casey Fein and Brett Jensen.

Home Sweet Home: The Whitecaps open a ten game homestand on Friday with the first game in a four game series against Burlington. Below are the expected pitching match ups for the series against the Bees:
