Great Lakes Loons News Release

DAVENPORT, IA - The Los Angeles Dodgers have announced that pitcher Joe Jones has been activated off the Loons' disabled list. To make room for Jones, pitcher Doug Brooks of Taylor, MI, was transferred to the Ogden roster.

Jones, a right-handed pitcher from Vancouver, WA, had been on the Loons' disabled list since the start of the season. Last year he pitched for Ogden and Columbus (GA) and went a combined 2-2 with a 3.74 ERA in 19 games. He was drafted by the Dodgers in the 18th Round of the 2006 draft out of the University of Portland. He is 24 years old. Manager Lance Parrish says that Jones will work out of the Loons' bullpen.

Brooks is coming off his worst outing of the season yesterday. Pitching the fifth inning against Quad Cities, he allowed seven hits and six runs and did not record an out. For the season, Brooks was 1-2 with a 9.49 ERA. He recorded the first win in franchise history, April 5 against South Bend.

The roster move was announced prior to tonight's game in Davenport between the Loons and the Swing of the Quad Cities. Game time tonight is 8pm ET. The game can be heard in Mid-Michigan on Wheelz 101 (100.9, WYLZ) and worldwide at Loons.com.

The Loons return home to begin an eight-game homestand and a stretch of 10 of 12 games at Dow Diamond beginning Friday against the Beloit Snappers. Tickets are available at Loons.com, at the Dow Diamond ticket office, or by calling 989-837-BALL.
