
Blues Reassign Ian Cole, Recall Adam Cracknell

St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the club has activated defenseman Roman Polak from injured reserve and placed Dave Scatchard on IR. In addition, the club has assigned defenseman Ian Cole to the Blues' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen and recalled forward Adam Cracknell.
Cole, 21, made his NHL debut this season on Nov. 6 at Boston. The 6-1, 221-pound defenseman skated in 10 games with the Blues, registering 12 penalty minutes and has made 20 appearances with the Rivermen this season notching three points including a goal and two assists.
The Ann Arbor, Michigan native was originally drafted by the Blues in the first round, 18th overall in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
Cracknell, 25, made his NHL debut on Dec. 15, 2010 at Detroit. He has made 29 appearances in Peoria this season tallying 14 points on four goals and 10 assists including 41 penalty minutes. The Prince Albert, Saskatchewan native was originally drafted by the Calgary Flames in the ninth round, 279th overall, of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He was signed as a free agent by St. Louis on July 23, 2009.
Polak, 24, missed the last 24 games after being injured on Oct. 23 vs. Pittsburgh. This season, he has played in seven games, recording one goal, six penalty minutes and a plus-two rating. The 6-1, 227-pound defenseman is currently in his fifth NHL season, notching 38 points (six goals, 32 points) and 116 penalty minutes in 179 games played.
The Ostrava, Czech Republic native was originally drafted by the Blues in the sixth round, 180th overall in the 2004 Entry Draft.
Scatchard suffered a right knee injury in the Blues' 4-1 loss to San Jose on Dec. 18 at Scottrade Center and will be sidelined four to six weeks.
