
Blues Assign Della Rovere, Recall McRae and Nikitin

St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the club has recalled forward Philip McRae and defenseman Nikita Nikitin from the Blues' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen. In addition, the club assigned forward Stefan Della Rovere to Peoria.
Della Rovere, 20, has made 37 appearances for the Rivermen this season notching 12 points on six goals and six assists to go along with 78 penalty minutes. The 5'11, 200-pound forward has also dressed in seven games and served 11 penalty minutes for the Blues this season while making his NHL debut on December 1 vs. Washington. The Richmond Hill, Ontario native was originally drafted by Washington in the seventh round, 204th overall, of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. He was acquired by St. Louis from Washington in exchange for D.J. King on July 28, 2010.
McRae, 20, has dressed in 39 games for Peoria this season recording 24 points including 11 goals and 13 assists. While with the Blues, the 6'2, 200-pound forward dressed in seven games notching two points including his first career NHL goal on January 26 at Calgary. A St. Louis native, McRae was originally drafted by the Blues in the second round, 33rd overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
Nikitin, 24, has played in 22 games for the Rivermen this season totaling 14 points including three goals and 11 assists. The 6'3, 217-pound defenseman made his NHL debut with the Blues on November 6 at Boston and has played in 15 games, registering four penalty minutes. The Omsk, Russia native was originally drafted by the Blues in the fifth round, 136th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
After the AHL All-Star Classic in Hershey, Pa. tonight, the Rivermen will resume action on Thursday in Oklahoma City. The Blues host the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday in their first post-all-star game action.
