
BlueClaws Take Second Straight against Greenville

GREENVILLE, SC - Jonathan Singleton homered in his second at bat as a BlueClaw and Matt Way gave up two runs over five to earn his second straight win as Lakewood topped Greenville 5-2 on Thursday night at Fluor Field.
Playing in his first game with Lakewood (18-16), Singleton went 1-4, with a 3rd inning home run, his third as a professional. Singleton, an 8th round pick last year from Long Beach, California, was added to the roster earlier in the day, with Darin Ruf promoted to Clearwater.
Way (2-3) gave up two runs over five innings to earn his second win after going winless in his first five appearances. Eric Massingham tossed scoreless innings in the 6th and 7th. Jacob Diekman pitched the 8th and Josh Zeid earned his 5th save by pitching a scoreless 9th.
Adam Buschini and Jonathan Villar each had three hits for the BlueClaws, who scored three runs in the 3rd inning to break open a 1-1 game. After Singleton's home run, Stephen Batts scored on a double and two Drive errors. Sebastian Valle then doubled and scored on Buschini's RBI single.
Greenville (18-16) starter Pedro Perez (2-2) allowed four runs over four innings to take the loss. The Drive made a season high four errors, though all of Lakewood's runs were earned.

Notebook: Eric Massingham has not allowed an earned run in 11.1 innings...Jacob Diekman has not allowed an earned run in 10.1 innings...Zeid is 5-5 in save opportunities...The teams have now split the first two games of the series.
