HITTING AT HAGERSTOWN: West Virginia's sixth, seventh, and eighth inning rally produced several new single-games highs for the 2010 season. The 13 runs surpassed the previous high of ten, scored at Kannapolis in game one of an April 25 doubleheader. The Power's 18 hits was one more than their total from an April 26 win over the Intimidators. The six-run seventh inning was one more plated than in the seventh of that April 25 win. The Power also tied their season highs with four doubles and two triples

The Power are 4-7 when committing two or more errors in a game this season.

In 2009 during West Virginia's first year as a Pittsburgh Pirates affiliate, the Power lost six out of ten games against the Suns.

FREEMAN GONE/ GONZALEZ HERE: Wes Freeman was sent to the GCL Pirates roster earlier today and Elevys Gonzalez was promoted from the Gulf Coast League. Freeman hit .155 during 24 games as the Power's everyday right fielder and currently leads the SAL with 44 strikeouts. Gonzalez was signed as a non-drafted free agent in 2008 and split time last year between the GCL Pirates and State College.

KO'd: West Virginia hitters struck out 87 times during their recently concluded homestand, 48 of which were during the series with Kannapolis. Intimidators pitchers combined to strike out 15 batters on Friday, seven on Saturday, 15 again on Sunday, and 11 on Monday. Prior to the Kannapolis series, Power hitters had not struck out more than 12 times in any one game this season.
