Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release
LAKEWOOD, NJ - For the first time this season the Lakewood BlueClaws have been swept. The BlueClaws lost game two of the doubleheader against the Lake County Captains by the score of 8-3 on Monday night.
The game was hard-fought early on as both teams traded a pair of runs in the second inning, the bottom half of the inning featured the first of two home runs on the day for Jim Murphy. Murphy also homered in the sixth and is the only BlueClaws (27-27) player to have hit two home runs in the same game this season.
Heitor Correa (7-7) struggled and took the loss as he went just four innings and allowed seven runs on ten hits. He did not strike out a single batter. Jacob Diekman relieved Correa after three reached in the fifth and allowed an inherited runner and another runner to score. Freddy Ballestas worked two scoreless after Diekman to end the game.
Captain's (32-24) starter TJ McFarland (8-4) had poor numbers this season against the BlueClaws entering the game, but ended up grabbing the win and allowing just one earned run over five innings.
The BlueClaws will now hit the road for six games before returning home on August 31st for three more games. The BlueClaws will face Hagerstown for three and then play at Lake County for three. On Tuesday, the BlueClaws will send Jesus Sanchez (9-6) to the mound and he will be opposed by Marcos Frias (8-4).
