BlueClaws Set To Kick Off Yankee/Met Week On Monday

LAKEWOOD, NJ -BlueClaws fans have had the chance to see Phillies prospects at FirstEnergy Park for ten years. This week, they'll get to see prospects from the Yankees and Mets as well.

Charleston (Yankees) and Savannah (Mets) will be in town for two series, May 3rd through 6th (Charleston) and May 7th through 10th (Savannah) next week.

On Monday, May 3rd, Kids Eat Free, thanks to ShopRite, and it's Home and Garden Night, with the first pitch coming at 6:35

Tuesday night, the BlueClaws and Monmouth Park will reenact the Kentucky Derby, run three days earlier at Churchill Downs. The race will be called by Monmouth Park track announcer Larry Collmus.

Further, the first 2,000 fans 17 & under will receive Horse Webkinz. It's also a Senior Day Tuesday, with seniors eating free and baseball bingo being played, thanks to TD Bank.

Wednesday, it's an 11:05 am game with the first 2,000 fans 17 & under receiving an oversized baseball card featuring BlueClaws pitcher Nick Hernandez. The BlueClaws will also host Wondergy, who will perform a pre-game demonstration on the science of baseball.

Thursday is the second Thirsty Thursday, presented by PNC Bank Arts Center, of the year, with $1 beer and 50-cent wings in the Coors Light WRAT Trap, plus a raffle to win tickets to see Toby Keith at the Arts Center on June 19th. The first 2,000 fans will receive a replica SAL Championship Banner, courtesy of the Strand Theater and Accu-Image Design.

Savannah comes in next Friday for a series that begins with post-game fireworks, courtesy of Toyota/Scion World of Lakewood. There will also be a Happy Hour from 6 -7 pm with half-priced drinks and live music in the Coors Light WRAT Trap.

Saturday, at 4:05 is the annual Bark in the Park, courtesy of 95.9 WRAT and Magic 100.1. Fans are encouraged to bring their dogs to the game. There will be a pre-game festival beginning at noon. All dogs are required to have a $2 "pooch pass" with all proceeds benefiting the Jersey Shore Animal Center.

Sunday May 9th is Mother's Day, and the BlueClaws will host Breast Cancer Awareness, courtesy of Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey and Monmouth Mall. BlueClaws players will wear special pink jerseys, which will be auctioned off live after the game. Kids Eat Free, thanks to ShopRite and it's a Monmouth Park Kids Character Sunday, with a kids character on the concourse for pictures.

Finally, Monday May 10th is another Kids Eat Free Monday, thanks to ShopRite, and will feature a special post-game giveaway thanks to Hershey's.

Current Yankees who have played in the South Atlantic League include Derek Jeter, Robinson Cano, Jorge Posada, Nick Johnson, Andy Pettite, Mariano Rivera and Phil Hughes. Current Mets who have played in the South Atlantic League include David Wright, Jose Reyes, Nick Evans, and Jon Niese.
