Charleston RiverDogs News Release
CHARLESTON, SC - While the excitement of Charleston RiverDogs baseball captivates, the means of generating that excitement are constantly evolving to help Lowcountry citizens find new ways to "Be Your Own Fan" of the Charleston RiverDogs.
So if you are fans of baseball, Christian rock, or both, all those present will all have something to smile and cheer about on Sunday, May 23, when the renowned Christian group "eleventyseven" performs at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park following the Charleston RiverDogs game against the Savannah Sand Gnats.
The group will present their concert immediately after the game and will play songs from their third studio album that is titled "Adventures in Eville." They have also recorded multiple Top-10 Christian rock singles including hits "Love in Your Arms," "Myspace" and "Nastalgiatopia" while enjoying several Radio Disney hits like "How It Feels" and "Christmas Magic."
Their performance is free to all who attend the RiverDogs game.
Boyhood chums - Matt Langston, Jonathan Stephens and Caleb Satterfield - turned one of their parents' living rooms into a practice space for their band. This small town trio of friends that came to be known as "eleventyseven," has been delivering catchy songs and high-energy live shows since they met in high school.
The release of their third album, "Adventures in Eville," is another round of musical mayhem, with content ranging from high energy fun songs that talk about cyborg robot squirrels and a sidekick dog named Grover Cleveland to real-life relationship issues. Last year, the group was able to slow down and spend more time with friends and family at home, giving them the opportunity to reconnect with the real world and focus on exactly what they wanted for the new record.
"We want the music to mirror who we are and what we are genuinely passionate about," explained Langston, the group's lead singer. "As a band we are pretty diverse, and as a writer, sometimes I'm inspired to write about emotionally personal things, and sometimes about things that mean absolutely nothing at all.
"They are both parts of who we are, and we need them both just as much," added Langston. "That's sort of where the title comes from. 'Eville' is that place in my head that I go to just be myself, where it's all-okay. Sometimes it's dark and scary, and other times its super positive. It's important to embrace all of it."
"We want our show to be more about the crowd than us," says Stephens, the group's drummer. "So many bands cater their show to themselves and their image ... we've always had much more fun just being us. People need fun. They need songs that don't always make sense, songs that can just let them breathe and enjoy life."
What better way to "Be Your Own Fan" at The Joe than by combining the FUN of a RiverDogs baseball game and the smooth sounds of Christian rock!!
Tickets, which include the game and concert, start at $7 for general admission with discounted group rates available for parties of 25 or more. Reserved seats range from $9-14. The concert takes place in right field and fans will be permitted to enjoy the show in the stands or on the outfield grass.
To secure tickets for the game and concert, please contact the RiverDogs' Box Office at 843/577-DOGS (3647) or online at www.riverdogs.com.
