LAKEWOOD, NJ - Micker Adolfo broke a 1-1 tie in the top of the 16th inning with an RBI double to give Kannapolis a 2-1 win over the BlueClaws on Tuesday afternoon at FirstEnergy Park in what was the longest game played by the BlueClaws this year.

Kannapolis (30-25) tied the game in the eighth inning and from then on, the BlueClaws only had two base-runners. They left the winning run at third base in the 11th inning second base in the 14th inning. Lane Hobbs threw two innings to improve to 3-0 and All-Star closer Mike Morrison threw a 1-2-3 inning to record his ninth save.

The BlueClaws (32-26) lost their fifth in their last six games. Ismael Cabrera gave up the run and fell to 4-4 on the season.

Enmanuel Garcia, making his BlueClaws debut, had three hits and was at second with two outs in the seventh when Danny Dopico uncorked a wild pitch on a swinging strike three to Arquimedes Gamboa . The ball kicked to the left of catcher Seby Zavala and Garcia never stopped running, scoring from second to give the BlueClaws a 1-0 lead.

Suarez came out after seven innings, allowing no runs on two hits with nine strikeouts and one walk, turning things over to Trevor Bettencourt .

Kannapolis tied the game in the eighth off Bettencourt. Jameson Fisher 's RBI single drove in Seby Zavala who had doubled to lead off the inning and tied the game at one.

The teams were not without scoring chances early in the game. Lakewood left the bases loaded in the first and stranded a leadoff double in the fifth. Kannapolis had second and third with one out in the second inning but couldn't score.

The BlueClaws set a new franchise record with 22 combined strikeouts, including six in 3.1 innings from Jonathan Hennigan, who pitched before Cabrera. The previous record of 21 was set in a 22-inning game against Hagerstown in 2006.

This was the longest game at FirstEnergy Park since the BlueClaws beat Hickory in 18 innings in August of 2015.

The BlueClaws and Intimidators continue their series on Wednesday night. RHP Adonis Medina (1-5) starts for Lakewood opposite RHP Blake Hickman (0-0).
