Augusta GreenJackets News Release
Augusta, GA-The Augusta GreenJackets, Single A Affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, are excited to announce that INF Kelvin Beltre and LHP Domenic Mazza will be the two representatives for the GreenJackets in the upcoming 2017 SAL All-Star game. This year's game will take place on Tuesday, June 20th at Spirit Communications Park in Columbia, South Carolina, home of the Columbia Fireflies (NY Mets).
Beltre has played in 46 games this season for the GreenJackets. He is third on the team with a .270 batting average. Beltre has four home runs and 20 RBIs, which are both tied for second on the team and he is the GreenJackets leader in doubles (13) and triples (2). The Santo Domingo native is in his second season with the GreenJackets after hitting .250 with the club in 2016. He already has as many triples and home runs as he did last season and is one double shy of last year's total.
The GreenJackets second 2017 SAL All-Star, Domenic Mazza, is also in his second season with the GreenJackets. In 2016, he was 8-3 with a 3.93 ERA in 14 starts. He has the same ERA with a 2-5 record in nine starts this season. On April 25, he threw the first nine inning perfect game in South Atlantic League history against the Lexington Legends at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. He continued his dominance against the Legends on May 15th where he gave up one run in seven innings in a GreenJackets victory at the Lake. On June 2nd, he went the distance a second time with throwing his second complete game of the season at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.
First pitch for the 58th annual SAL All-Star Game is scheduled for 7:05pm with the gates opening at 3pm. There will be a pre-game fan fest and autograph session. On the eve of the All-Star game, a Celebrity vs. Soldier softball game is scheduled to begin at 6:15pm.
