
BlueClaws Fall in 13 to the Legends

Lexington, KY - The Lakewood BlueClaws (8-7) let one slip away in Lexington losing 10-9 to the Legends (8-7), Single-A affiliate of the Houston Astros. The Legends scored the winning run in the bottom of the 13th with a bases-loaded walk.
Kyle Allen (L, 0-4) pitched the 13th inning allowing two walks before getting the first out of the inning. Allen then walked the next batter to load the bases up then threw four straight balls to Clint McGill to walk in the winning run. It was the BlueClaws fourth straight loss on the road.
Lakewood led 8-0 after the first two innings before the Legends came back with eight runs over the third, fourth and fifth innings. The BlueClaws regained the lead in the seventh inning when Mike Dzurilla connected for his fifth homer of the year, a one-out solo-homer, for a 9-8 lead.
The Legends came right back in the bottom half of the seventh to tie the game up again when Francisco Caraballo led off the inning with a solo-homer off reliever Cory Dueitt.
Lakewood started off hot in the first inning when Brad Harman drew a walk then Dzurilla doubled to put runners on second and third. Doug Gredvig then came up and crushed a three-run homer, his 10th of the year, to put Lakewood up 3-0.
In the second inning with one out Harman knocked in a run with a one-out double to put Lakewood up 4-0. Dzurilla followed up with a base hit to move Harman up to third and then Harman came home on Gredvig's sacrifice fly to put the BlueClaws up 5-0.
After Sam Orr drew a two-out walk, Ryan Frith connected for a three-run homer, his 10th of the year, and Lakewood was up 8-0.
Maximo De La Cruz faced the minimum through the first two innings but ran into trouble in the third inning allowing four runs on four hits. De La Curz lasted 4 2/3 innings allowing eight runs on eleven hits while walking one and striking out two for the no decision.
Lakewood had the bases loaded with one out in the eighth and ninth inning but could not get a hit.
Dzurilla finished the night 5-for-6 with three runs scored and an RBI while Frith went 2-for-4 with three RBI's.
Lakewood and Lexington continue their series on Saturday night with Lakewood sending right-hander Matt Sweeney (1-0, 1.72) to the mound. The Legends will counter with right-hander Ronnie Martinez (5-3, 4.90). First pitch on Saturday night is at 7:05 p.m. with on-air time at 6:50 p.m. on 1310 WADB and www.blueclaws.com.
This season, the Lakewood BlueClaws are celebrating their fifth anniversary of providing great fun in the Jersey sun. Among the great promotions, fireworks every Friday night home game and kids eat free Monday Nights courtesy of Shop Rite. In addition, the BlueClaws will host games against the New York Mets affiliate.
