Delmarva Shorebirds News Release

On Friday night, July 15, when Your Delmarva Shorebirds take the field to face the Lexington Legends, they will have a special group of fans sitting in the seats of Arthur W. Perdue Stadium - over 1,500 Perdue Producers and their families. These farmers have dedicated their time and devoted their lives to the agricultural industry on Delmarva. Your hometown team and Perdue Farms will recognize the Producers while every fan enjoys America's Greatest Pastime. Your Shorebirds also want to pay tribute to the man who helped fortify the great legacy of baseball here in Salisbury. It was Franklin P. Perdue who brought professional baseball here to the Eastern Shore through his diligence, generosity and love for the game.

This particular evening Your Shorebirds will focus on many activities that will honor the Perdue Producers. It starts with an honorary Perdue Producer being selected to throw out the ceremonial first pitch. As part of the evening's festivities, there will be vintage Perdue Farms commercials played on the centerfield video board. Your Shorebirds will also provide in-game entertainment to showcase Perdue Farms commitment to its Producers and the entire Delmarva community. Capping off the night's festivities will be a fabulous Fireworks Extravaganza courtesy of Perdue Farms in the honor of the Producers.

Following the game Your Shorebirds will pay a special tribute to the late Frank Perdue. A three-minute video montage will play on the centerfield video board that reflects the great life Frank lived. Then to help memorialize Frank's love of this organization Your Shorebirds will dedicate the Press Box in his honor. The Press Box was where Frank sat to watch his Shorebirds play - that was his spot. Like his father, who the stadium is named after, Frank's name will forever be a permanent fixture on this facility.

"We are all very excited to be helping the Perdue Family honor their Producers for a second year in a row. Your Shorebirds also wanted to find a fitting tribute to Frank Perdue - the man who has made all of this possible." General Manager, Stephen C. Yaros stated. "At the same time we want to respect the humble nature which Frank demonstrated and his love for this team. Establishing the "FRANKLIN P. PERDUE PRESS BOX" is our way of doing just that."

It was because of Frank Perdue's passion for the game of baseball and the Eastern Shore that Arthur W. Perdue Stadium and Your Delmarva Shorebirds exists today. His enthusiasm and devotion for America's Greatest Game will continue to thrive with every pitch thrown, every ball that flies over the outfield fence, and every call from his press box at Perdue Stadium.

"I hope Frank will be looking down on us on July 15 and will be proud." Yaros added.

Join us Friday night, July 15th for "Perdue Producer's Appreciation Night ~ Celebrating the Life of Frank Perdue" at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium.

From the first pitch to the last firework in the sky, it promises to be a wonderful evening for all!
