Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release

HAGERSTOWN, MARY. - The BlueClaws dropped their third consecutive ballgame Tuesday morning with a 6-2 loss to the Hagerstown Suns.

Hagerstown used a solo home run by Cutter Dykstra to take a 1-0 lead in the 1st inning and added three more runs in the 4th inning to put distance between them and Lakewood in front of 952 fans at Municipal Stadium. The BlueClaws were never able to get back within two runs the rest of the way- once cutting the lead to 4-2 in the top of the 8th inning before the Suns struck for two runs in the bottom half.

Starting pitcher Ethan Stewart was making his first start for Lakewood in nine days after skipping his most recent start due to blisters on his throwing hand. He was removed from the ballgame after 2.2 innings with what seemed to be a recurrence of blisters and he will be evaluated prior to determining his status the next time through the rotation.

Blake Mascarello came into the game in the 3rd inning in relief of Stewart and tossed 3.1 shutout innings out of the bullpen in what was his longest outing for the BlueClaws. Mascarello has now allowed three earned runs in 17.0 innings (1.59 ERA) for Lakewood since being promoted from Williamsport.

The BlueClaws and Suns will play Game 3 of a four-game series Wednesday at Municipal Stadium. All-Star Colin Kleven (4-7, 4.75) will start for the BlueClaws against Hagerstown's lefty Bobby Hansen (2-1, 4.10).

First pitch for Wednesday's morning game is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Listen to all the action on WOBM 1160-AM and WOBM 1310-AM beginning at 6:50 p.m. with the BlueClaws Beat pre-game show.
