BlueClaws Bounce Back with 5-1 Victory

LAKEWOOD, NJ - The Lakewood BlueClaws evened up their 4 game series with the Augusta GreenJackets at 1 game a piece with a 5-1 victory on Sunday night. Augusta actually out hit Lakewood 8-7, but the BlueClaws made their base runners count. The 8th and 9th hitters in Lakewood's lineup drove in all 5 runs for the BlueClaws in the 5-1 win.

Cameron Rupp hit 8th and Bill Rice hit 9th, and they sparked Lakewood's offense on Sunday. Rupp went 2-3 with 3 RBI's and Rice was 1-3 with 2 RBI's from the bottom of the order. Domingo Santana was also 1-3 with a double and 2 runs scored.

Lakewood's SP Ervis Manzanillo didn't factor in the decision as he departed after 4 1/3rd innings. He allowed 5 hits and walked 5, but limited Augusta to only 1 run. Lendy Castillo got the win out of the bullpen throwing 2 2/3rd innings of 1 hit, shutout baseball. Jay Johnson got the final 6 outs to collect his 2nd save of 2011.

Monday the same 2 teams will face off for the 3rd game of their 4 game series. Lakewood will start RHP David Buchanan (10-5, 3.62 ERA), and he will be opposed by Augusta LHP Michael Kickham (2-5, 4.71 ERA). First Pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm on Monday.
