Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release

LAKEWOOD, NJ - Jefry Rodriguez threw six scoreless innings as Hagerstown improved to 11-0 against the BlueClaws with a 3-0 win at FirstEnergy Park on Tuesday night.

The Suns (28-16) have won the first two games of the current series with Lakewood (16-28), while the BlueClaws have now dropped eight of their last nine and were shutout for the fourth time this year.

Hagerstown opened the scoring in the top of the fourth on an Edwin Lora two-run double to put the Suns up 2-0. The double drove home Rhett Wiseman and Ryan Ripken who had back-to-back singles to open the inning.

The Suns added a run in the sixth inning on a two-out RBI single by Cody Dent, which drove home Ryan Ripken.

That was more than enough for Rodriguez (4-2), who gave up two hits over his six scoreless innings.

BlueClaws starter Tyler Gilbert (1-5) came out after six innings and gave up three runs on eight hits, snapping a stretch of three straight starts in which he threw seven innings. Zach Morris came in and threw two scoreless innings in relief for the BlueClaws.

The BlueClaws have been held to eight runs in their last 82 innings.

Ryan Ripken had three hits for the Suns in the win.

The series with the Suns wraps up on Wednesday at 11:05 am. RHP Luke Leftwich (3-2) starts for Lakewood opposite RHP Joan Baez (1-4).
