Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release
LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Kannapolis Intimidators, Class A Affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, have promoted outfielder Michael Suiter to Class A-Advanced Winston-Salem on Tuesday. In a corresponding move, the Intimidators have received outfielder Frank Califano from Extended Spring Training, keeping the team roster at 25.
Suiter, 24, hit .243 (9-37) over 11 games with the Intimidators in 2016. Originally drafted by the White Sox in the 24th round of the June 2014 First-Year Player Draft, the speedy outfielder was re-signed by the Sox earlier this spring. Last season, he batted .226 (96-424) with 17 doubles, two triples, three home runs, and 40 RBI in 117 games between Kannapolis and Winston-Salem.
Califano, 22, made his professional debut with Advanced Rookie Great Falls in 2015, batting .291 (53-182) with 19 RBI, five doubles, two triples, seven stolen bases, and 23 runs scored. The Alpine, Calif., native led Great Falls in on-base percentage (.365) and ranked second in stolen bases. Califano finished eighth among White Sox minor leaguers in batting average. The White Sox selected him in the 19th round of the June 2015 First-Year Player Draft out of Youngstown State University, where he was named First-Team All-Horizon League following his junior season.
The Intimidators are in Lexington, Ky., to face the Lexington Legends with Game 2 of a 3-game series tonight at 7:05 p.m. at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.
The team returns home on Thursday, May 26, to open a seven-game home stand starting with Motorsports Night where the team will be giving away two pairs of tickets to the 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The Intimidators upcoming home stand also features Faith & Fireworks Night on Saturday, May 28, with a pre-game Christian concert by Selfless Sunday at 5:30 p.m. and post-game fireworks presented by ServPro of North Cabarrus County & China Grove and Cornerstone Church. For tickets and promotional information, call the F&M Bank Box Office or visit IntimidatorsBaseball.com.
