Oklahoma City Blue News Release
OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City Blue (20-19) fell to the Austin Spurs (25-15), 100-91, on Friday night.
Despite being down by as many as 12 points, the Blue battled back in the fourth quarter, cutting the Spurs lead to as little as three points behind Dakari Johnson's scoring effort. On assignment from the Thunder, Johnson produced 13 of his game-high 27 points in the final quarter in addition to nine boards, three assists, and a block.
"The benefit of having those guys like Dakari here is that you can kind of stretch their boundaries when they are here," said Head Coach Mark Daigneault. "Getting them here and stretching that allows them to improve and I also think it gives them some confidence."
Oklahoma City produced a 10-2 run to end the second quarter, putting the team up 49-47 at the half. Justin Leon led the team into halftime with 12 of his 18 points coming before the break.
The Spurs came out strong in the third quarter outscoring the Blue 26-18 behind Austin's Darrun Hilliard who tallied 22 points, nine rebounds, and three assists.
Two-way player Daniel Hamilton finished with a double-double consisting of 17 points and 12 rebounds along with three assists and a steal. Bryce Alford led the bench efforts with 15 points, five rebounds and three assists.
The Blue return to action tomorrow at 7 p.m. when the team takes on the Delaware 87ers inside Cox Convention Center.
