Blue Coats Drop Season Opener to Westchester

WILMINGTON - The Delaware Blue Coats fell 135-103 to the Westchester Knicks on Opening Night at Chase Fieldhouse.
Terquavion Smith led all scorers, with 37 points off the bench for the Blue Coats. Javonte Smart (17), Ricky Council IV (19), and Jared Brownridge (10) recorded double figures in scoring.
Six Knicks players score in double figures, with Duane Washington Jr. leading the way with 26 points. Brandon Goodwin added a double-double, with 25 points on an efficient 8-13 shooting, and 13 assists. Isaiah Roby joined him with a double-double of his own, dropping 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Before tip-off, returning players Aminu Mohammed, Derek Culver, Jared Brownridge, and Patrick McCaw, along with former Blue Coats guard Charlie Brown Jr.-now with the Westchester Knicks-received their 2022-23 Championship Rings during the pregame ceremony. The Coats will be back in action on Monday, Nov. 13, against the Capital City Go-Go, tip-off is slated for 7:00 p.m.
