CLEVELAND, OH - The Cleveland Charge used a big third quarter to help defeat the Wisconsin Herd, 116-109, in front of 5,032 at the Wolstein Center to open the 2023-24 NBA G League season.

Cleveland Cavaliers Two-Way player Emoni Bates made his Charge debut, scoring 29 points on 7-of-12 from three-point range with six boards in 36 minutes. Fellow Two-Way player Isaiah Mobley posted a double-double of 23 points with 12 boards and four assists in 35 minutes. Sharife Cooper scored 16 points and dished eight assists with three steals in 35 minutes. Zhaire Smith (15 points) and Aleem Ford (14 points) rounded out all Charge starters scoring in double figures.

Trailing 58-50 at the half, the Charge came out and scored 39 points in the third on 68% from the field, including 13 from Bates. The Cleveland defense held the Herd to 22 points in the third quarter.

Wisconsin was paced by 16 points from Stephen Thompson in 29 minutes to lead the six Herd double figure scorers. Former Charge C Marques Bolden scored 15 points and grabbed six rebounds in 20 minutes off the bench for the Herd. Drew Timme added 15 points, while Wenyen Gabriel scored 12 points, grabbed nine rebounds and swatted four blocks in 29 minutes.

The two teams meet again Sunday at 6:00 p.m. where the first 1,000 kids will take home a Mini Hoop Schedule presented by Terminix.
