Raptors 905 (0-1), the NBA G League affiliate of the Toronto Raptors fell to the Long Island Nets (1-0) 120-123 in the season opener Friday evening. Markquis Nowell opened his professional career with a near triple-double, putting up 19 points, nine rebounds, 13 assists, and four steals in Long Island. The Nets saw Jalen Wilson contribute a game-high 33 points, 10 rebounds, and two steals in the victory.

The 905 took control of the match early, forcing the Nets to go 0-11 from the floor before taking a timeout. The Nets' found their rhythm late in the first, but the visitors continued to hold onto their advantage as the 905 took a three-point lead going into the second. The Nets continued to build off their momentum in the second, opening the frame on an 18-4 run to take an 11-point lead in the first four minutes. The 905 fought back late in the second, bringing the game within four at the half.

The two teams traded baskets back-and-forth throughout the third quarter, with the Nets holding onto a nine-point lead as the quarter came to a close. The 905 regained control of the game holding the Cruise to 24 points as they put up 30 fourth-quarter points, but were unable to overcome the deficit.

Mouhamadou Gueye paced the 905 contributing a career-high 26 points, seven rebounds, and three blocks. The Nets saw complementary scoring from Kennedy Chandler who added 16 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and two steals in the game.

The 905 return to Paramount Fine Foods Centre for their home opener against former Raptors 905 assistant coach, Ryan Schmidt, and the College Park Skyhawks Sunday, tip-off scheduled for 2:00 pm. The Nets continue their homestand as they host the Greensboro Swarm, Saturday at 7:00 pm.
