WINNIPEG, MB - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers started off the 2012 CFL Draft by trading both their second round draft picks to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (8th and 13th) in exchange for the third overall pick which they then used to select offensive lineman Tyson Pencer out of Washington State University.

"Tyson is an extremely talented lineman who has experience playing the tackle position," said Vice-President and General Manager Joe Mack. "In order to ensure we got the young man we coveted, we made a deal with Hamilton that we felt gave us the best opportunity to select Tyson. We look forward to him becoming a member of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for many years."

Pencer (6-8, 330, Washington State, DOB: February 10, 1989 in North Delta, British Columbia) spent two years with the Washington State Cougars making a number of starts at tackle before leaving for the Okanagan Sun last season. He was one of 14 Cougar freshman to start a game in 2009 and appeared in seven games that season, starting four at left tackle.

The Blue Bombers currently hold two more picks in the third round (16th and 21st) as well as two more picks in the fourth round (23rd and 29th).
