Montreal, May 3, 2012 - With their first pick in the 2012 Canadian Draft, the Montreal Alouettes selected Laval University fullback Patrick Lavoie 11th overall. Lavoie was the fourth pick of the second round, with the Alouettes being without a first round pick, trading it one year ago in return for kicker Sean Whyte.

Lavoie (6',2'', 240 lbs.) is a native of Sainte-Flavie, QC and played four years with the Laval Rouge et Or where he won the Vanier Cup in 2008 and 2010. In 25 games with Laval, he caught 30 passes for 374 yards while scoring nine touchdowns.
