Alouettes draft fullback Patrick Lavoie and five others

Montreal, May 3, 2012 -With their first pick in the 2012 Canadian Draft, the Montreal Alouettes selected Laval University fullback Patrick Lavoie 11th overall. Lavoie was the fourth pick of the second round, with the Alouettes being without a first round pick after trading it last year in return for kicker Sean Whyte.

Lavoie (6'2'', 240 lbs.) is a native of Sainte-Flavie, QC and played four years with the Laval Rouge et Or where he won the Vanier Cup in 2008 and 2010. In 25 games with Laval, he caught 30 passes for 374 yards while scoring nine touchdowns. In 2011, he caught eight passes and scored three touchdowns, while recording 7.5 special team tackles.

"It's a proud day for the Alouettes organization to draft a Laval University player and Quebec native with our first pick," said Alouettes General Manager Jim Popp. "We feel strongly about Patrick's ability and look forward to him competing for a job in training camp."

With their third round pick, Montreal selected defensive linemanBo Adebayo (6'4", 268 lbs.) out of the University of Western Kentucky. Adebayo played in all 12 games at defensive end last season, posting career highs in tackles (31), tackles for a loss (8.5) and sacks (4). This marked the third consecutive season in which the Edmonton native suited up in all 12 regular season games for the Hilltoppers.

In the fourth round with the 26th overall pick, the Alouettes nabbed defensive backLance Milton (5'11", 185 lbs.). He saw action in three games last season with the UBC Thunderbirds and recorded 13 tackles including one sack and one tackle for a loss.

The Alouettes selected linebackerBryn Roy (6'1", 225 lbs.) in the fifth round (34th overall). He emerged as a key player at linebacker for Texas A&M-Commerce in 2011, playing in all 10 games. He finished the season with 29 tackles, including 19 unassisted, four tackles for loss and two sacks.

With their two picks in the sixth and final round, the Alouettes chose defensive back Keynan Parker (42nd overall) and offensive lineman Ryan White (44th overall).

Parker (6'0", 183 lbs.) was one of the fastest players for Oregon State University. He suited up for 23 games with the Beavers and recorded seven tackles.

White (6'4'', 290 lbs.) who played at left tackle, was a two-year starter for the Bishop's Gaiters. The Montreal native played in a combined 16 of 17 regular-season games in 2009 and 2010.
