Blue Acquires Dwight Buycks

OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City Blue has acquired guard Dwight Buycks through returning player rights, the team announced today.

Buycks (6-3, 190) previously played for the Blue franchise in 2011-12 and 2014-15, bringing career NBA D-League averages of 15.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.5 steals and 28.8 minutes in 46 games (14 starts). Following the 2011-12 season, the guard was named to the NBA D-League All-Rookie First Team.

The Marquette product has seen two separate stints in the NBA, including a call-up to the Los Angeles Lakers in 2015-16. In 20 career NBA games with the Lakers and Toronto Raptors, Buycks averaged 4.8 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 13.4 minutes. Buycks has also taken part in Orlando Summer League competition with the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2013.

Buycks returns to the Blue after spending the 2015-16 Chinese Basketball Association season with the Fujian Sturgeons, averaging 25.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.7 assists, 2.2 steals and 42.0 minutes in 38 games (all starts).

Buycks is expected to be in uniform when the Blue hosts the Austin Spurs at the Cox Convention Center today at 1 p.m. In a related move, the Blue has waived guard Mustapha Farrakhan.
