Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release
READING, PA - The Greenville Road Warriors announced today that defenseman Blake Parlett has been reassigned to the club by the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League.
Parlett, 22, joins the Road Warriors after spending a majority of the season with the American Hockey League's Connecticut Whale. After signing an NHL contract with the Rangers this summer, Parlett was assigned to Connecticut after traveling with New York on its European excursion to begin the season. While he didn't' play in either of the Rangers' regular season games in Stockholm, Sweden, he did skate in the final exhibition game of the trip in Gothenburg, Sweden.
The 6-1, 205-pound defender from Bracebridge, Ontario has 14 points (4G, 10A) in 50 games with the Whale this season. As a rookie, he logged 24 games with the Whale last season and produced 12 points (2G, 10A). Parlett added three points (1G, 2A) in six Calder Cup playoff games but could not help Connecticut escape the first round. Parlett played most of his rookie season in Greenville and was an ECHL All-Star. Over 46 games he notched 32 points (7G, 25A) and was the top scoring defenseman in the league when he was called up to Connecticut on February 17, 2011.
Parlett is expected to join the Road Warriors in Reading and be available when the Road Warriors battle the Royals at 7:05 p.m. tonight.
Mark your calendars! The Road Warriors return home on Friday, March 2, 2012 to take on the South Carolina Stingrays at 7:35.
