TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: Tonight, the Cyclones will wrap up a four-game homestand as they look to pull within six points of first place Kalamazoo as the two teams meet at U.S. Bank Arena for the final time this season. With just three more meetings overall with the Wings, Cincinnati will need a victory in each one to pull ahead in the season series. In 2011-12, the Clones have earned a 4-6-1 record against their Michigan rivals with each of the previous three meetings being decided by just one goal.
TONIGHT'S PROMOTION: KIDS EAT FREE NIGHT / PUCKS N PUPS - All fans ages 2-12 will receive a FREE meal courtesy of John Morrell. Plus, fans can bring their four-legged friends to the game for just $2 in addition to a normal game ticket!
SCOUTING THE WINGS: Nick Bootland's club suffered a rare home loss last night, dropping a 4-3 decision to Chicago. Despite the defeat, the Wings are still among league-leaders in offense - ranking second among all 20 teams with 197 goals scored. Trent Daavettila leads Kalamazoo and ranks fifth in the ECHL overall with 56 points (13 goals, 43 assists) in 54 games. Daavettila has also been the biggest Cyclones-killer this year as well, posting 12 points in the 11 meetings this year. With Riley Gill spending the last week in the American Hockey League, Maxime Clermont is the starting goaltender for the Wings. This season, he has collected a 10-9-1-1 record with a 3.38 goals-against average. However, he has not had the greatest success against the Cyclones this year - going 2-2-1 with a 4.10 goals-against average.
Sisca's Soaring: Cyclones rookie forward Matt Sisca has continued to be a steady source of offense. He has posted 22 points in 23 games since getting traded from Bakersfield. On Sunday, he earned his second four-point night as a Cyclone and now has points in 9 of his last 14 games. Cincinnati is 9-2-1-2 when he finds the scoresheet.
A Time To Kill: Jarrod Skalde's team has excelled in the penalty kill department this season. They have improved to the fifth-best unit in the ECHL, killing off 84.2% of their opponents power play chances (192-of-228).
