Blades Skate to a 3-1 Win in San Diego

SAN DIEGO, CA - The Florida Everblades (6-2-3) upended the San Diego Gulls (3-2-1) 3-1 at the San Diego Sports Arena on Saturday night and claimed sole possession of first place in the Southern Division. Florida forwards Keith Anderson and Brian McCullough lead the ECHL in scoring and notched one goal and two assists respectively in the Everblades win.
The Everblades got on the board first and made it 1-0 after Keith Anderson picked off a pass at the far blue line while the Blades were shorthanded, skated in alone and fired a low snap shot past Gulls netminder David Burleigh at the 11:55 mark.
In the second period the Blades grabbed a 2-0 lead after rookie forward Gray Shaneberger tipped in a Brian McCullough pass at the :57 mark of the period.
The Gulls came back on the power play and made it 2-1 after a point shot found the back of the net at the 11:54 mark of the second period. The Blades then picked up a five on three goal off the stick of Brent McDonald as he tipped in a Matt Pagnutti point shot to give Florida a 3-1 lead and the victory.
Florida goaltender Jeff Maund (3-1-0) stopped 28 of 29 shots he faced while San Diego netminder David Burleigh (0-2-0) stopped 25 of 28 shots he faced.
The Everblades were 1 for 10 on the power play while the Gulls were 1 for 11.
