Saskatoon Blades News Release
A total of 40 shots were fired off the sticks of Saskatoon Blades on Saturday night while three of them led the Blades to a 3-2 victory over Kamloops on Saturday night at the Credit Union Centre.
The Blades scored just 37 seconds into the game and never looked back as they never trailed in the game. Ondrej Fiala, Travis Toomey, and Colton Gillies all scored for the Blades with Gillies adding an assist to be named the games 3rd star. Chris Durand also picked up 2 points in the game, both assists.
Blazers goals came from Juuso Puustinen (PP) and Ivan Rohac.
Blazers goaltender Justin Leclerc made 37 saves on 40 shots in the game being named the games second star. Meanwhile Braden Holtby made some key saves in the game, stopping 24 of 26 on total while taking home first star honours.
The Blades power play was 0 for 7 on the night while their penalty kill was 2 for 3.
Saskatoon will now continue their extended home stretch with games next weekend as they host Brandon (Fri) and Moose Jaw (Sat).
