Saskatoon Blades News Release

The Saskatoon Blades are pleased to announce that they have acquired 20 year old forward Adam Chorneyko from the Lethbridge Hurricanes in exchange for a 5th round WHL Bantam pick.

The 6'1", 189 lbs. forward from St. Albert, AB, has recorded 18 goals, 41 assists, 59 points, and 111 penalty minutes in 191 career regular season games. Chorneyko has started this season strong with the Hurricanes by tallying 4 goals and 3 assists in 8 games.

The Lethbridge Hurricanes had four 20 year olds on their roster (Chorneyko, Fadden, Versteeg, and Wright) and had to make a decision on one of them due to today's Western Hockey League overage deadline where every team had to reduce their roster to a maximum of three 20 year olds. Chorneyko now joins Mike Reich and Colin Joe as the Blades three 1988 born players.

"We would like to welcome Adam to our organization, as he brings with him the experience of playing on a championship winning team last year when Lethbridge went to the WHL Finals," commented Blades G.M. and Head Coach Lorne Molleken, "He has gotten off to a fast start this year with Lethbridge and we feel he will fit in well with our team and will continue to put up points."

Chorneyko was the Lethbridge Hurricanes 2007/08 nominee for Humanitarian of the year and is expected to join the Blades immediately. The Blades next game is set for Tuesday, October 21st as they wrap up their current 6 game road streak when they travel to Regina to take on the Pats. The team will then return home to Credit Union Centre ice on Wednesday, October 22nd as they welcome the Portland Winter Hawks to town.
