
WHL Completes 20-year-old cutdown draft

Calgary, AB - The Western Hockey League completed its 20-year-old cut-down Draft on Thursday, October 16th.
The Portland Winter Hawks added veteran Blair Macaulay after he was released from the Tri-City Americans. Macaulay, who hails from Winnipeg, MB, appeared in 72 games for the Americans last season, scoring nine goals and adding 18 assists for 27 points. The 5'11", 178-lb forward spent the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons with the Saskatoon Blades.
WHL teams had until October 16th to reduce the number of 20-year-old players on their roster to the maximum of three.
All other 20-year-olds who were available but not selected in the cut-down draft now become free agents.
