Tri-City Americans News Release
KENNEWICK, WA - Tri-City Americans Governor/General Manager Bob Tory announced today that the team has released 20-year-old forward Blair Macaulay. The club was forced to make the move in order to reach the WHL-mandated three 20-year-old players as of 11:00 a.m. this morning. Macaulay's rights were later picked-up by the Portland Winter Hawks later this afternoon in the 20-year-old Draft.
The 5'11, 178-pound right wing from Winnipeg, Manitoba was dealt to the Americans from the Saskatoon Blades in June of 2007. Last season, Macaulay appeared in all 72 games, including all 16 post-season games for Tri-City, recording a career-best 27 points. Macaulay has played in 212 career-WHL games between Saskatoon and Tri-City, totaling 21 goals and 67 points.
"(Blair) is a quality person and it's sad to see him go. He was a big part of our success last season," explained Tory. "We wish him all the best, in whatever route he chooses to take, and he will be missed by everyone in our organization."
Home for the first time in over three weeks, the Tri-City Americans prepare for a doubleheader weekend. On Friday, October 17, the Seattle Thunderbirds come to town. Then, on Saturday, October 18, the rival Spokane Chiefs make their first appearance of the season at Toyota Center. Both games start at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster outlets, including the Toyota Center box office, all Fred Meyer locations, or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
