
Black Bears Split Weekend with Prowlers

Binghamton Black Bears News Release
Port Huron - The Binghamton Black Bears fell on the road Saturday night to the Port Huron Prowlers, by a final score of 5-3. Binghamton had the lead early, but Port Huron was able to put 34 shots on goal in the final two periods, scoring all five of their goals.
Owen Liskiewicz was given the start in the net on Saturday, stopping all 10 shots he faced in the first period. Liskiewicz had not appeared between the pipes since November 8th but was peppered with shots early to welcome him to the game. The first period saw almost four minutes of 4-on-4 time as penalties were being traded by the two clubs.
Bret Parker got the scoring started, as the Black Bears were able to break the ice in the first period this go 'round. Parker's goal would be the only tally in the period, with Binghamton leading 1-0 going to the first break.
Port Huron did not want to let Binghamton grab another multi-goal advantage, and Larri Vartianinen put the home team on the board just one minute into the period, tying the game at 1-1. Tyler Gjurich extended his point-streak to 15 games with a goal in the second period. 20 seconds later, the same line, was able to cash in as Tyson Kirkby scored his second of the weekend, giving Binghamton a 3-1 advantage in the second.
Then a switch flipped in the heads of Port Huron, as the Prowlers rattled off the game's +final four goals between the final two periods. The Prowlers were able to tie the game within a span of 20 seconds at 3-3. The game had a much different feel to it going into the second intermission.
In the final period, the Black Bears offense got could not generate any sustained pressure. No goals were scored by Binghamton, as the Black Bears were only able to put three shots on target. Port Huron on the other hand, were to squeak two more past Liskiewicz and that is where the game would reach it's conclusion. Prowlers win 5-3 to spilt the weekend series.
Binghamton returns to the ice on Friday December 2nd to host the Watertown Wolves. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00P.M. In addition, the Black Bears are running a Cyber Monday special.
