Bisons Turn Triple Play on Tuesday night

September 1, 2009 - International League (IL1)
Buffalo Bisons News Release

The Buffalo Bisons turned a TRIPLE PLAY in the third inning of their game tonight against the Rochester Red Wings. The 6-4-3 triple play went Argenis Reyes-Luis Rivera-Mike Lamb for just the second triple play in the history of Coca-Cola Field.

The only other triple play turned at Coca-Cola Field came on July 27, 1997 against Nashville. That ground ball triple play went Jeff Manto-Torey Lovullo-Richie Sexson.

Opponents have never turned a triple play at Coca-Cola Field.

How it Happened

With the score tied 2-2, the Red Wings put runners on first and second base with no outs as Jason Pridie singled and Dustin Martin walked to lead off the inning. Rochester then sent the runners on a 1-0 deliver from Bisons pitcher Kyle Snyder to Red Wings second baseman Steven Tolleson. Tolleson lined the pitch to short where Buffalo's Argenis Reyes made a diving grab for out #1. Reyes then threw from one knee to Luis Rivera covering second to double-up Pridie. Rivera's throw to Mike Lamb at first was in time to beat Martin returning to the bag. A 6-4-3 triple play.
