Brett Myers to Rehab at Coca-Cola Park Tonight

September 1, 2009 - International League (IL1)
Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release

(Allentown, Pa.) - The Philadelphia Phillies announced today that RHP Brett Myers is scheduled to continue his Major League rehab at Coca-Cola Park when the IronPigs host the Pawtucket Red Sox tonight at 7:05 p.m. Myers, recovering from June 4 hip surgery, was originally placed on the disabled list on May 30 (retroactive to May 28) with a torn labrum in his right hip. Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network is the exclusive sponsor of all Major League rehabilitation appearances at Coca-Cola Park.

General Admission tickets still remain for tonight's game and can be purchased in-person at Coca-Cola Park, by calling (610) 841-PIGS or online at ironpigsbaseball.com. Prices for single-game tickets start as low as $6 for General Admission, granting fans access to the Capital BlueCross Lawn seating area and standing room only areas. Field Level reserved seats are just $9.

Myers, 29, has been sharp in his first four rehab appearances, allowing just a run in six innings while striking out 11 batters in stints with Clearwater (A), Lakewood (A) and Reading (AA). Prior to the suffering the hip injury with the Phillies in late-May, Myers was 4-3 with a 4.66 ERA in 10 starts.

Relegated to Triple-A at the 2008 season's midway point with a 3-9 record and a 5.84 ERA, Myers regained his form with the IronPigs - and, after returning to Philadelphia, went 7-4 with a 3.06 ERA for the remainder of the regular season. During the Phillies unforgettable post-season run, Myers made headlines in a memorable nine-pitch at-bat that resulted in a two-out walk against Milwaukee's ace CC Sabathia and set the stage for Shane Victorino's NLDS heroics. On the mound in last year's post-season, he made three starts and posted an impressive 2-1 mark with a 3.79 ERA.

Myers also proved invaluable in Philadelphia's late-season push in 2007, notching 21 saves while pitching out of the bullpen for the first time in his career - helping to guide the Phillies to the post-season for the first time since 1993.

In 232 career games, he has gone 73-63 with a 4.39 ERA (1176.2 IP, 1185 H, 606 R, 574 ER, 410 BB, 982 K). Myers was selected by the Phillies in the first round (12th overall) of the 1999 draft and moved rapidly through the system, reaching the Major Leagues in 2002.

The first 7,500 fans 18 and older attending tonight's 7:05 p.m. series finale will receive an IronPigs Wall Calendar presented by Nacci Printing.

Fans are reminded that there are three entry points for parking and are encouraged to use the Dauphin Street entrance when traveling from downtown Allentown. In addition to the Dauphin Street entrance, entry to Coca-Cola Park can be gained off American Parkway and Union Boulevard. Preferred/Handicapped Parking access is available via American Parkway only.

The cost of parking for all IronPigs home games is $3 per vehicle.
