TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons host the Toledo Mud Hens in the second game of a four-game series from Dunn Tire Park (7:05 p.m.). Last night, the Hens handed the Herd their third consecutive loss with a 4-2 victory. The Bisons will look to respond with RHP Brian Slocum on the mound. Slocum is in the process of being stretched out as a starter, and worked 2.2 shutout innings on Thursday against Durham. Toledo will go with Chad Durbin, who fell on Thursday (7.0IP, 6H, 3R).

STARTING UP: Brian Slocum will continue his progression into the Bisons' starting rotation today. Slocum began the year out of the pen and posted an impressive 1.88ERA in eight appearances (14.1IP, 15K). Since returning to the Herd from his first Major League stint (April 21-May 2), Slocum has started two games (0.00ERA, 3.2IP) around a two-week stay on the disabled list. He went 5-5 as a starter last season at Akron and led the Carolina League with 15 wins in 2004.

EXTRA GOOD: Ryan Garko hit his 7th home run of the season last night and now has an extra-base hit in each of his last four games (four doubles, one homer). Garko leads the Bisons with 22 extra-base hits (15 doubles), two more than Jason Dubois (13 doubles, seven home runs). Both Garko and Dubois are tied for the team lead with 37RBI (T3rd in IL).

ROSTER MOVE: RHP Travis Foley rejoins the Bisons today from Double-A Akron. This will be his second stint with the Herd as he pitched on May 1 (2.1IP, 2H, 2R, 2ER) with the team. The rest of his season has been with the Aeros where he is 2-2 with a 2.55ERA and one save in 17 relief appearances (35.1IP, 29H, 10R, 10ER, 11BB, 33K).

MUJICA MAGIC: Edward Mujica has begun his season with 20 outings without allowing an earned run. He began the season at Double-A Akron and gave up just an unearned run in 12 outings (19.0IP, 17K). Since being called up for his first Triple-A stint on May 15, Mujica has worked eight more outings without an earned run (13.1IP, 1R, 12K).

ALWAYS ON: With two singles in four trips last night, Franklin Gutierrez has now reached in 18 of his last 20 games. Since May 9, the outfielder has averaged .342 (25-73) with six doubles, one home run, seven RBI, 11 walks and 11 runs scored. His 36 runs scored on the season are tied with Rochester's Jason Bartlett for the most in the league.
