Ft. Mill, SC - The Charlotte Knights beat the Richmond Braves 4-3 Tuesday at Knights Stadium. The Knights scored three runs in the second inning and held on to even their series with the Braves at a game each.
The Braves took a 1-0 lead in the second on an RBI single by Dax Norris. The Knights moved in front to stay in the second on a three run homer by Tim Hummel. The Knights pushed their advantage to 4-1 in the fourth on a run producing ground out by Jorge Velandia. Scott Thorman knocked in a run with a fifth inning single to trim the Knights lead to 4-2. Cesar Crespo drilled a home run in the ninth to pull the Braves within a run but Javier Lopez came on to close Richmond out.
Charlie Haeger earned the win. Lopez picked up a save. Brian O'Connor took the loss. Hummel and Damian Rolls had two hits each for the Knights. Thorman had two hits for the Braves.
The Braves and Knights meet again Wednesday at 7:15. Richmond returns home June 13 vs. Louisville.
