SURGING SERGIO EXTENDS HIT STREAK TO A DOZEN
SkyChiefs shortstop Sergio Santos extended his hit streak to a career high 12 games going 2-4 in last night's game. Santos has collected six multi-hit game during the streak and is hitting .396 (19- 48) with eight doubles, a home run and nine runs batted in. The streak has helped him raise his average from .207 to .255.
EVERYBODY HITS
Everyone in the SkyChiefs lineup collected a hit in last night's game and three players had multi-hit games, Santos, Rob Cosby and Danny Solano. It marks the second straight game versus Norfolk that every player in the lineup collected a hit (May 26 vs. NOR). The SkyChiefs are hitting .326 against Norfolk in 5 games this season and have scored 5.8 runs per game vs. the Tides. Against the rest of the league the SkyChiefs are hitting .241 and are scoring just 3.6 runs per game.
THE COSBY SHOW
Cosby collected two hits last night and has now reached base in 14 straight games. During the streak Cosby has hit .302 (16-53) with 2 home runs and 9 RBI. He has reached base in all five games versus Norfolk hitting .400 (8-20) with four runs scored, two home runs and five runs batted in versus the Tides.
PHILLIPS REACHES BASE IN 11TH STRAIGHT
Catcher Jason Phillips went 1-4 last night in Richmond and has now reached base in 11 straight games. Over the 11 games Phillips is hitting .341 (14-41) and has scored seven runs.
TAKING HIS ACT ON THE ROAD
Centerfielder Wayne Lydon went 1-3 last night and has now reached base in thirteen straight road games. Lydon has a hit in 11 of the 13 games and two or more hits six times. During the 13 game streak he is hitting .370 (17-46) with six walks and eight runs scored.
SKYCHIEFS OUTFIELDERS ASK, HOW MAY WE ASSIST YOU?
SkyChiefs right-fielder Chad Mottola registered two outfield assists last night and is now tied with teammate Wayne Lydon and Raul Gonzalez of Indianapolis for the IL lead with 6.
ROUGH "START" TO JUNE
The SkyChiefs starters are 1-4 in June with a 7.10 ERA allowing 20 earned runs and 41 hits over 25 and a third innings.
